6 Things to Know Before Your Botox Appointment

6 things to know before your Botox appointment

Sara Courtney, DNP, FNP-C doing a Botox injection to the right temple of male patient.

No rubbing or massaging for 24 hours

You might be a little sore… but avoid rubbing or massaging the treated areas for at least 24 hours! This prevents spreading the toxin to the wrong place. Your rbf will thank you.

Think Ahead

Plan your Botox at least 2 weeks before any major events! Botox is NOT an instant procedure. The effects of Botox can take days to reach their full potential.

Be Well Informed

Have you done your research on your injector? Are they educated and qualified to make injections… TO YOUR FACE?

And although Botox isn’t permanent, you should still have a thorough consult with your (highly trained and certified) injector beforehand — ask questions and discuss your goals!

Anticipate Cost

How much is your tox treatment going to set you back? Discuss cost when discussing your goals.

Botox is purchased by the “unit” so you’ll want to know the per unit cost before treatment. This amount can vary widely between providers.

Avoid Certain Medications

These medicines increase your risk for bruising — don’t take ‘em before your appointment. *Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Fish Oil + Vitamin E

No Napping!

You’ll have to settle for spending the rest of your day shopping because there’s no lying down for 4 hours after your treatment.

If you’re on the fence about Botox or other injectables, we’d love to sit down and discuss your options and concerns. Skin consultations with Highland Medical Aesthetics are completely complimentary, always. We take pride in our work, and we’ll be happy to work with you to achieve your personal goals.
