Highland Medical Aesthetics was started in November 2022 by Sara and Itzel who combined their complementary medical backgrounds in emergency medicine, plastic surgery and dermatology into their love of aesthetic medicine.
We offer an array of non-invasive treatments including Botox, Dermal Filler, Hydrafacial, Morpheus8, and more.
In addition, we offer skin care treatments such as dermaplaning, facials, microneedling (SkinPen), chemical peels and platelet-rich plasma treatments for skin regeneration. We offer ZO Skin Health for daily, medical grade skincare.

Founder/Nurse Practitioner
Sara is a multi-state, dual-board certified nurse practitioner with formal, hands-on training in basic and advanced toxin and dermal filler procedures, skin care and laser therapy. She received a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Southern Miss, Bachelor’s in Nursing from Mississippi University for Women, and her doctorate in nursing practice (DNP) from Samford University in Birmingham, AL. Her medical background is diverse, including plastic surgery, emergency medicine, critical care and urgent care. Sara serves in the Air National Guard as a flight nurse, enhancing her assessment skills and problem-solving in difficult situations. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.

Esthetician
Emilia Calderon is a MS state board certified aesthetician. She graduated from the Mississippi Institute of Aesthetics, Nails, and Cosmetology in 2019. Emilia specializes in a broad array of facials, chemical peels, microdermabrasions, waxing, and full body treatments. She has in-depth knowledge of various skin types and ethnicities. Emilia is fluent in Spanish. During her free time, she loves to spend time with her friends and family, especially with her baby boy.

Itzel Barroso is a multi-state board-certified nurse practitioner. She is well trained in dermatology and skin care, as well as basic toxin and dermal filler procedures. She has many years of diverse nursing experience in emergency medicine, dermatology and aesthetics. Her in-depth knowledge of skin care makes her a valuable asset to Highland Medical Aesthetics. When Itzel isn’t in the clinic, she can be found trying new restaurants and traveling.
